CONGOLESE RENAISSANCE MOVEMENT CALLS ON CIVIL SOCIETY IN CONGO AND AFRICA TO DEMAND THE GOVERNMENT OF KINSHASA TO ABANDON WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT ITS OFFER TO HOST CONGO AS A TESTING LABORATORY FOR COVID 19 VACCINE TRIAL.
The Congolese Renaissance Movement calls on civil society in Congo and Africa to demand that the government of Kinshasa to abandon with immediate effect its offer to host Congo as a testing laboratory for COVID 19 vaccine trial. The Congolese masses that have suffered for more than 130 years should not be taken as “human guinea pigs”. Our people have endured massacre, rape, oppression, repression, exploitation, hunger, malnutrition and all kind of diseases that have taken the lives of millions of our people. Congolese leaders should not use Congo and its People as tool for them to get access to IMF Emergency Fund for COVID 19 to enrich themselves and leave the poor masses to be subjected to the pandemic.
As a movement, we are of the view that, Congo in particular and Africa in general has not yet recorded a high number of infected people compare to China, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, UK, and USA. Therefore, countries that are known to be mostly affected by COVID 19 should be considered and used as vaccine trial sites. As it one of the Congolese Renaissance Movement objectives to work with all progressive forces in Congo, Africa and across the globe to bring about political, economical, social change and environmental and gender justice in Congo, and Africa, we appeal to all progressive forces across the globe to put pressure on the government of Kinshasa to abandon with immediate effect its offer to host Congo as a testing laboratory for COVID 19 vaccine trial.
Congo and Africa should not be used as testing sites, and we appeal to African leaders to take their responsibilities and use the resources at their disposal to protect our people and improve the health care system and facilities across the continent. “Congo is the heart of Africa and when the heart is sick the entire body will be affected. There will be no liberation of Africa without the liberation of Congo and its people”. Stand together for Congo and its people equals stand together for Africa and its great People.
